Have you met Andrea? The "empty nest" entrepreneur and Founder of OY-L Natural Skincare, Andrea Pierce-Naymon, spent over two decades as a retail fashion buyer before setting out to launch the skincare company you've been looking for. She's the mother of two smart, beautiful and talented daughters, two cats and a rescued French bulldog that is the love of her life.

Why do you do what you do?

I am passionate about natural skincare because I want everyone to know about the toxins that are in almost every product on the market. It shouldn't be this way. The government lets big corporations fill our personal care products with chemicals, often even ones that can cause cancer. The EU doesn't allow this but the United States does. I want people to know that there are alternatives that can really help - you can avoid chemicals without giving up and the luxurious feel.

What is the best compliment you've ever received?

After giving my sister-in-law a jar of my body butter, she used it for a couple of weeks and told me, "This stuff has changed my life! I went to my dermatologist to show her my eczema is gone and without even taking a bunch of drugs!" Now, I don't and can't make any medical claims, but she is so relieved and I felt great! What I wanted to do was change a life in some small way, and it feels great to know my products have a positive effect on people.

Where do you thrive?

I love talking to women about the cosmetics they use! I have used almost every cosmetic product from the department store over the years and I know that natural cosmetics are just as good and so much better for us. I love showing them the ThinkDirty app that shows them the ratings of the products they use and how toxic they are. Most people's mouths drop when they see it.

What's the quirkiest part of your weekly or daily routine?

About 5:30am, I wake up with one cat sitting on my chest and the other touching my face with her paw. They are hungry. After feeding them, I take my dog out and then we have coffee together on the couch while I check my emails and instagram. I love this time of day. These "fur kids" are so loving and love our routine.

If you could only have one app on your phone, what would it be?

Please, don't judge, but I would have to have the Google app. I use this constantly during the day to find info really quick. I use it for work or just to find out what happened that day or the lyrics to a song. For someone that was raised on the Encyclopedia Britanica this is magical for me! LOL

What's the biggest lesson you learned this past year?

That it takes a village to start a new company and also don't be afraid to ask!
